LUMEN & EVERSE join forces to strengthen research software quality
LUMEN has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with EVERSE, formalising our shared commitment to making research software a trusted asset within EOSC.
The EVERSE project aims to establish a framework for research software and code excellence, collaboratively designed and championed by research communities. By building a European network of Research Software Quality, EVERSE is laying the foundations for a future Virtual Institute for Research Software Excellence. For LUMEN, this aligns closely with its mission to build a cross-domain discovery layer for research software and services within EOSC. Through this collaboration, both projects are working to ensure that software discovery is underpinned by strong quality frameworks, making research software more visible, trustworthy, and reusable across disciplines. The joint work for 2026-2027 will focus on three areas:
- Integrating EVERSE-inspired quality metrics and indicators into LUMEN’s software catalogue.
- Shared development guidelines, using the RSQKit to assess and improve FAIRness, sustainability and quality.
- Promoting shared standards, such as FAIR Software Indicators, for interoperability across EOSC.
As LUMEN advances the operationalisation of software discovery at EOSC scale, this collaboration with EVERSE will help ensure that quality signals are embedded at the core of how research software is discovered, assessed, and reused.
