FAIR Semantic Management Space
The FAIR Semantic Management Space streamlines the lifecycle of semantic artefacts that enhance interoperability, data integration, and automated processing in complex information systems. Building on projects like OntoCommons, FAIRsFAIR, and FAIR-Impact, it emphasises governance, metadata, and FAIR-by-design development.
This working space will be developed iteratively, with comprehensive workflows tailored to general and domain-specific requirements, selected open-source tools, an interoperability framework, and intuitive user interfaces. It will facilitate semantic artefact integration across scientific domains, supporting dataset enrichment and annotation services.
A key innovation will be AI-powered automation for concept discovery, ontology population, and mapping suggestions, integrated with other LUMEN models to enable automatic entity recognition from scientific publications and datasets.
The FAIR Semantic Management Space enhances the EOSC ecosystem by introducing a set of services for semantic interoperability, an area that is currently underdeveloped in EOSC. It supports the FAIR principles and integrates key elements for improving data management and accessibility.
