This workshop will contribute to the co-design of a platform supporting ontologists and taxonomists in creating, sharing, and maintaining FAIR-by-design Semantic Artefacts. The LUMIS – LUMEN Infrastructure for Semantics is envisioned to be a workspace integrating and connecting existing open source tools into a coherent workflow, similar to a Continuous Integration/Continuous Development platform. This workspace would enable users to track the status of various Semantic Artefacts, including aspects such as quality, FAIRness, governance, etc. The workspace will also support both the creation of FAIR-by-design artefacts and the FAIRification of existing artefacts.

This interactive session brings together domain experts to shape the platform by sharing practices, identifying pain points, and defining essential needs and priorities. Whether working with SKOS taxonomies or OWL ontologies, participants’ input will help ensure the platform meets the practical demands of the community.

Objectives

  • Gather insights into current workflows and methodologies used in the development of SKOS taxonomies and OWL ontologies
  • Collect concrete user requirements and user stories across disciplines
  • Define priorities, features, and workflows for the future LUMIS
  • Engage with the community and identify potential contributors and testers for the platform’s development.

Who should attend?

Ontologists, taxonomists, and semantic data experts passionate about building and maintaining high-quality FAIR semantic artefacts. This is your chance to directly shape a tool designed to serve your community’s evolving needs.

Agenda

  • Welcome &  short introduction
